On a bright, sunny Friday morning, a bunch of coffee enthusiast dropped by CloudCatcher Asia‘s roastery for a morning of coffee exploration and a mini world tour of coffees from around the globe.

If you’d like to know more about what Coffee Cupping is, here’s a quick read on what it is and what it entails.

Hosted by Masyitah from Cloud Catcher, we were introduced to the process, including the aromas of each coffee. What we love about CloudCatcher is that they travel to the origins to source and buy. Putting faces of the farmers, and all stories behind the cup. These farmers grow our favorite drink, spending months in hard labor, usually on mountainous terrain — They should be getting the right compensation for their labor. That is one of Kopi Social’s core value: Ensuring sustainability through direct, ethical coffee buying where growers and roasters and consumers are connected.

Well, with the large range of cupped coffees, it was interesting to note the plenty of flavor preferences. As the cupping process isn’t espresso, the intensity is lower, and the resulting profile would differ slightly but it gave us a nice vision of how CloudCatcher’s team roasts and the profiles available.

Hope to see more this year for another round of cupping!
